Production and materials were authentically sourced based on the original century old shirt, being weaved and stitched at one of only two remaining mills in the country that still knit cotton in the traditional way that would have been used on playing shirts of the time.

The commemorative shirt was issued as part of a wider programme of celebration and memorial events that took place to mark 100 years since Jack Harrison VC MC was killed during WWI and posthumously awarded the Victoria Cross.

At the age of just 26, he became the first sportsman to be bestowed with the honour, having already earned his place as one of Hull’s greatest rugby league players, winning the Challenge Cup in 1913.

The free-scoring winger also holds the record for the most tries scored in a season for the club, which still stands today at 52.
