HISTORY - Stade Francais is a professional rugby union club based in Paris, France. The club was founded in 1883, making it one of the oldest rugby clubs in France. The team's distinctive pink and blue jerseys have become one of the most recognizable and unique kits in world rugby.

Stade Francais played in the first French championship final in 1892, losing to Racing Club de France. The club won its first French championship in 1893, and went on to win six more titles between 1894 and 1908. During this time, the team was composed largely of players from the Parisian bourgeoisie.

After a period of decline, Stade Francais enjoyed a resurgence in the 1990s. The club won the French championship in 1998, and reached the final of the European Cup in 2001, where they lost to Leicester Tigers. The team's success continued in the 2000s, with Stade Francais winning the French championship in 2003, 2004, and 2007.

In 2005, the club was taken over by businessman Max Guazzini, who transformed the team into a more marketable brand. Guazzini introduced a number of innovations, including the distinctive pink and blue jerseys, cheerleaders, and a pre-match light show. He also moved the team to the Stade Jean-Bouin, a new stadium he built in the west of Paris.

Under Guazzini's ownership, Stade Francais won the French championship again in 2015, defeating Clermont in the final. However, the club has struggled in the years since, and was relegated to the second division of French rugby in 2017. The team returned to the Top 14 in 2018, but has not won any major trophies since their last French championship in 2015.
